John performed at Penn's Landing for the WXPN Singer/Songwriter Festival.
John was featured as the special guest and of course, I was there. I
remember I had been upset because John was not coming to Philadelphia
on his summer tour, but then my friend Lisa came to the rescue! She found a
tiny article in the newspaper about the Singer/Songwriter Festival and
that John Mayer was going to be playing. Well, that was enough for me...
I hopped on the internet, printed out directions to Penn's Landing and
the next day I dragged Lisa along to see Johnny play. We were lucky and got some
really great seats, but we had to sit through an act before him. It was some
guy that sings childrens songs...so it was pretty annoying...but when John performed,
he made it all worth it! It was my first time seeing him perform live and he absolutely
blew me away! He sang just about all of my favorite songs from the Room For Squares Album in a 45 minute set.
That day turned me from being a fan of John Mayer's music to being a fan
of not only his music and lyrics, but also of his performances! It also turned Lisa
from just going with me so I wouldn't be alone, into being a fan herself! It was a great
experience!
