The Amphitheatre at Station Square in Pittsburgh, PA

I had been waiting for this concert since I first heard about it from a friend. Finally on July 25th, the day had come. My three friends, Jess, Rachele, Sami, and I headed to the amphitheatre bright and early because the seats were general admission and of coarse we wanted the best view possible. We ended up being the second group there around 10:30am. We sat on the hot cement all day long in the beating sun. It wasn't fun.
Around 2pm, John started his sound check. He first played "Why Georgia" and "My Stupid Mouth." He sounded exactly like he did on the album (even a little better) and I knew right away that this concert would be amazing. About an hour and a half later a member of security came out of the theatre and instructed us to get into a line. Everyone jumped up and quickly formed a long line. We were pushed back a bit, but I was fine with that.
The lines started getting extremely long around 5pm. They reached all the way across the parking lot, which was pretty large. I asked a security guard how much time until the doors opened because I needed to run to the hotel across the street for something. He told me he knew for a fact that they wouldn't let people in before 6:30. We had 15 minutes, so Sami and I ran to the hotel. On our way back, we noticed the line was moving. Turns out they did open the doors before 6:30! Freaking out, we started running as fast as we could in our painful flip-flops after standing all day long. We rushed up to the gate, cutting so many people trying to find Jess and Rachele. I tried climbing over the ropes to get back into the line but just as I was doing that, Sami decided to climb under the same rope. Needless to say, we both nearly fell flat on our faces. People were yelling and laughing at the same time. It was pretty humiliating, but I honestly didn't care. We rushed up to the door where Jess was standing, waving Sami's purse in the air (which had her ticket in it). As soon as Sami grabbed the purse, Jess bolted into the theatre trying to find Rachele. Sami and I finally got in. We searched for our friends and found them in the center if this huge crowd.
Around 7:30, the first act came on. His name was Martin Sexton. I had never heard him before, but thought he did a pretty good job. He played three songs before ending with USA's nation anthem. About 15 minutes later the next band came on. They were called Guster, and it was obvious they had some pretty big fans there. The first song they played was amazing (along with the rest of the songs they played). They were quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. They played about 10 songs then headed off the stage. It was just after 9pm, and the stage crew had been setting up for John Mayer for the past 20 minutes. Suddenly one red light in the center of the stage turned on, then "Hot In Here" by Nelly started playing. Everyone was singing along and dancing to the song when out of nowhere, John Mayer comes on stage with his band. The entire crowed went crazy.
John's performance was amazing. It was unlike any concert I had ever been to before. He started out by playing my personal favorite, "My Stupid Mouth." It was amazing! The entire concert was out of this world. I have never seen a musician put so much emotion and passion into their music. Just by watching John, it was like I could feel everything he was feeling. You could tell everyone in that audience was completely memorized by the performance he was putting on. It really was unlike anything I had ever witnessed before. John has quickly become one of my favorite musicians because of this concert. If he comes to a town near you, I highly suggest you go. I promise you won't be disappointed!
John Mayer is pure talent.
